This just in: The Walt Disney Co. said Tuesday it will build a theme-park "land" based on the movie 'Avatar' in Disney's Animal Kingdom, according to the Orlando Sentinel. The company said it has landed the theme-park rights to 'Avatar,' the highest-grossing movie of all time, and would start with construction of an East Coast attraction in Walt Disney World. The 2009 film, a science-fiction epic directed by James Cameron that earned nearly $2.8 billion in worldwide box-office receipts, is widely considered one of the strongest intellectual properties not already tied up by a theme park.
